Shadow weave scarves the third, not just for men

I am really liking this 'shadow weave' structure.  

From a distance it looks elegant but up close a whole world of colour and pattern opens up and quite a variety of pattern from one threading can be achieved.

Scarves for Ava Lee

Am delighted to be supplying a local dress shop, Ava Lee, with a small selection of scarves.

Red and Black 5 end damask.  Black with red dots on reverse side, wool.

Red and wine, 5 end damask, wool.

Deflected double weave, hand dyed merino wool.

Wool, angora, rayon show casing a slub yarn.

Looks good doesn't it. 

Why would anyone weave an entire scarf that they know doesn't feel good. 

Yep, that would be me!

The light thread is supposed to be merino (though I have a big question over that but that's what it was sold to me as) - overtwisted hairy crap.  If half the jinxes I put on the manufacturer come true someone will be feeling very sorry for themselves right now.



 

So I spent precious hours removing said threads and replacing them with true merino.

Then I had to sit awhile with tea and chocolate cake!

Now that I've got that off my chest I do take some responsibility for making a bad choice.



Shadow Weave Scarves

Woke this morning to the sound of gun shots, sat bolt upright in bed and saw a red light through the crack in the curtains and thought fire.

Just the sky alight.

Duck shooting season has started - I hate it! 

Pete is in Auckland helping the kids with a building repair job.  As I have so much weaving on order I elected to stay home and weave but it does take quite a bit of time to prepare designs and thread the loom.
